STEM – Make Do Challenge, Meresborough. Years 2 and 3
21 January, 2019
STEM (Science, Technology, Engineering and Mathematics) workshop in collaboration with Medway Education Business Partnership. This workshop will take place within the school day at the Junior site. The Year 2 pupils will be transported by school minibus to and from the site.
The children will work in teams to use simple, safe tools, including saws, nuts and bolts, screw drivers and hinges, to design and make creative cardboard constructions. The imaginative creations are made from recycled cardboard and reusable plastic kits.
The workshop will begin with a presentation and discussion about technology and engineering, followed by an introduction to the kit. Pupils will then make drawings of their designs before starting on the build. The workshop is fast, furious and fun, but with a serious purpose of introducing children to the importance of engineering and technology, and how it’s never too early to start considering future career options!
