Pre-School Visit to Riverside Country Park
Tuesday 20th September 2016
were very excited to be going to a new venue for us,
this year, at Riverside Country Park. Mr. Reid was
waiting for us as we pulled up. Excitedly, off we went
into the education room. There are hidden wildlife
sensors in the walls, that make sound effects. These
were great fun and the children loved looking at the
stuffed foxes too. We went for a walk and found a
pigeon's egg, newly hatched. There were butterflies,
squirrels, birds and a rabbit. We collected flowers,
seeds and leaves on our way, to make our sticky sticks.
We walked along the board walk over the pond and saw
many birds and a duck. Then came the long walk out to
Horrid Hill looking at interesting things. The children
used binoculars to bring the view closer. We had
sandwiches, fruit and crisps for lunch. Then the
children chose which mini-beast shape they would like to
decorate. They used crayons, sequins, glitter and more
to produce beautiful art work. We went pond dipping. We
found water boatmen and a damselfly nymph. Lastly it was
time for the playground. Children played imaginative
games on the pirate ship, and had great fun on all the
equipment. It was a sad moment when it was time to
leave. We arrived back to school tired and happy.
